If you have questions about financial aid at Queen’s University and aren’t sure where to start, we’d recommend you review the sections below. If your questions are still not answered, contact us and we would be happy to help. The Financial Aid and Awards Office cannot accept walk-in appointments.

1. I have questions about Tuition, Fees, Charges, and Payments on my SOLUS Account 

  • Please ask to speak to a representative in the Office of the University Registrar, Records and Services. The Financial Aid and Awards office cannot provide assistance with Tuition, Fees, Charges or payments.  
  • Representatives with expertise regarding Records and Services (Tuition, Fees, Charges, Payments) are also available to book advising appointments.  
     

2. I am looking for general information about financial aid available at Queen’s University

3. I have a scholarship or award cheque that needs to be deposited by Queen’s University 

  • Please bring your scholarship or award cheque to the Financial Aid and Awards Office in Gordon Hall (room 125). Please ensure your cheque clearly indicates your name, student number, name of the granting agency, and the letter from the granting agency indicating how the award funding must be processed (I.e. must be applied to tuition and fees).  
  • If the cheque is made out to both Queen’s University and yourself, please ensure you endorse (sign) the back of the cheque prior to its delivery at the Financial Aid and Awards Office.  

4. I am a student or family who is interested in attending Queen’s University, and I am visiting from out of town

  • Are you a prospective undergraduate student or parent of a prospective undergraduate student who is visiting Queen’s campus from out of town and have questions about financial aid?  
    • We recommend you book an advising appointment in advance of your travel date with a Financial Aid Officer to review the options available for prospective undergraduate students. Advising appointments are booking approximately two-weeks in advance.  
  • Forgot to make an appointment?  
    • Please come into our office at Gordon Hall, room 125 and indicate you are a family visiting from out of town who is interested in Financial Aid for undergraduate students starting in the upcoming fall.  
    • We will do our best to be available for in-person discussions; however, please be advised that Financial Aid Officers may not always be available without a pre-booked appointment.    

5. I have a financial aid related form that I need to complete 

All forms sent to the Financial Aid and Awards Office must include the student name, student ID, and email address. If this information is not included, the form will not be completed or returned to you.  

  • Completed forms will be sent to Queen’s Student email accounts. We will also contact you if the form you have submitted is missing information.   
  • Forms that cannot be processed by the Financial Aid and Awards Office will not be returned to students.  
  • Please do not drop off a form at the Financial Aid and Awards Office without first validating the appropriate method of completion. If you do not know, please contact us by email or phone (613-533-2216) for instructions on how to complete your form.

  • Tuition Support Plan Confirmation of Registration will only be accepted by email or mail. Please send your documents to the following addresses prior to the documented deadline:

  • We will not accept Tuition Support Plan forms or Confirmation of Registration documents in person at this time.  

  • The Financial Aid and Awards Office will not complete RESP agreement forms 
  • Students with RESP agreement forms should log into SOLUS and download the Verification of Enrolment form from the Academic Records tile and attach it to the RESP agreement form.  
  • The online Verification of Enrolment form replaces the post-secondary section of all agency forms (if applicable).

  • The online Verification of Enrolment form is not required for government student financial aid (e.g. OSAP, Canada Student Loans, provincial student loan programs, US Loans). In most cases the confirmation of enrolment is completed through the online portals by the University on the student’s behalf. 

  • What is a T4A 
  • When will my T4A be mailed to me? 
    • T4A forms are mailed to student’s primary address on SOLUS by the end of February. Students should ensure their address on SOLUS is updated by the end of January to ensure their T4A is properly received.  
    • If you are currently living in residence, please update your primary address to an appropriate home address prior to the end of January to ensure your T4A is delivered to the desired location.  
  • I have not received my T4A and/or I am looking for a T4A from a prior year of study, what do I do? 
    • Please contact the Financial Aid and Awards Office by email and we will confirm if T4A mailings have occurred and/or process a reissue request (as needed). Reissue requests can take up to two weeks to be processed.  

6. I am having issues with my government funding (i.e., OSAP, BC Loans, Other government funding)

  • The Financial Aid and Awards Office will only accept copies of BSWD related documents (including receipts). Original receipts and documents should be retained by the student for warranty purposes.

7. I have an acute emergency, or I am experiencing food insecurity

  • Are you currently enrolled in a degree program at Queen’s University and are experiencing an acute emergency? Please review the following page for emergency funding options and eligibility requirements for emergency bursary funding available through the Financial Aid and Awards Office:

    • What is Considered an Emergency? 
      • Any circumstance where you are experiencing unexpected financial strain due to a circumstance outside of your control which occurred during the study period, may be considered an emergency.  
      • Some examples include sudden illness or death in the family resulting in travel, loss of property due to fire, robbery of personal possessions, assault, etc. 
    • What is Not Considered an Emergency? 
      • Outstanding tuition and fees to the university 
      • Temporary delay of funding 
      • Expenses related to financial concerns of pets, friends, or family members (i.e. medical/dental/home repair/parent’s mortgage payments) 
      • fluctuations in exchange rates 
      • Travel for leisure or to visit family 
      • Existing or increasing levels of educational or other types of debt 
  • Students who are experiencing an emergency, as outlined above, can meet with a Financial Aid Officer without an appointment. Please email, call (613-533-2216) or come to Gordon Hall (room 125) and indicate you would like to discuss Financial Aid options in emergency circumstances. In most circumstances you will be asked to outline your emergency and provide supporting documentation.
