Dr. Mari Réthelyi has accepted a 3 year appointment as Assistant Professor in the School of Religion.
Dr. Réthelyi received her PhD in Jewish Studies from the University of Chicago in 2009. She has held visiting positions at University of Iowa, St Lawrence University, NY, and Loyola University, New Orleans, LA where she has taught classes in Jewish studies and religion. Her current research examines Jewish race theories, the formation of Jewish identity in the modern period and the effect of the modern ideologies of nationalism and Orientalism upon the writing of history in Central European Judaism.
She begins her appointment on August 1, 2012.
