Calendar Description/

Objective

The philosophy, worldview, spirituality and ethics of Confucianism in its classical, modern and contemporary forms.

At the end of this course students should

  • have a basic understanding of the core motifs of Confucian philosophy and the way they are interpreted in classical, Neo-Confucian and New Confucian movements
  • be skilled in reading Confucian texts in translation
  • be prepared to take a more advanced course on Chinese religions (RELS-394*)
