Leadership Programs

The Queen's School of Religion offers a number of leadership programs for ministry personnel, lay leaders and high school youth.

The Shaw Transformational Leadership Program and Diploma provides challenging and supportive professional development for church and congregational leaders through a core residential intensive program (one-week) held at the Providence Spirituality Centre in Kingston. The program aims to help church leaders deal with the particular challenges facing churches in times of rapid change.

The Future Quest Youth Program offers high school youth (14-17 yrs) an opportunity to explore the themes of community, theology and leadership by engaging body, mind and spirit. A two-week August program is followed up by a winter reunion retreat. Guest speakers, faculty-led seminars, a canoe trip, drumming, accommodation and meals in intentional community living at Queen's Science 44 Co-op contribute to this safe, fun, inspiring and meaningful program.

In 2009, the Flora Jane Baker Sabbatical Fellowship Program began through the generosity of a private donor who is interested in providing pastoral leaders with opportunities for continuing education and sabbatical renewal. The Flora Jane Baker Sabbatical Fellowship Program provides funding for up to four UCC congregational ministers annually who are undertaking a church leadership-approved sabbatical. There are four different streams possible through the Queen's School of Religion for educational renewal.
