Program Streams

Stream One:

Residency May 1st - July 31st

The Clergy Sabbatical Fellowship recipient will participate in a Clinical Pastoral Education Course which revolves around enrolment in 11 weeks of Clinical Pastoral Education. This experience focuses on the deepening of the participant's experience of people through ministry, development of personal maturity, a sense of personal and pastoral identity, and the theoretical understandings and practical skills for the practice of effective pastoral care. An additional application and interview to be accepted in the CAPPE program will be required in addition to approval as a Flora Jane Baker Clergy Sabbatical Fellowship recipient. Once approved in the CAPPE program, Clergy Sabbatical Fellowship recipient will be registered as a special student at Queens with access to the libraries and other facilities as appropriate.

Stream Two:

Residency April 1st - May 31st

(returning for the one week Diploma Program Courses in November)

The Clergy Sabbatical Fellowship recipient will participate in the Shaw Transformational Leadership Diploma Program which facilitates keeping pace with the rapid change that is presently occurring in churches and congregations. Leadership in such a climate requires the development of particular knowledge and skills needed to think, plan and lead effectively. Enrolment in the Shaw Transformational Leadership Week along with the additional courses can assist with this development. Mentoring, lectures and events will as well. An additional brochure will be forwarded to the approved Clergy Sabbatical Fellowship recipient as soon as it is available each year to complete registration in this stream.

Stream Three:

Residency September 1 - November 30th OR January 1st - March 31st

The Clergy Sabbatical Fellowship recipient will participate in Two (2) Theological Studies Credit Courses to be taken at Queen's School of Religion in Theological Studies which will allow the participant to be fully immersed in the classroom once again studying in the areas of Pastoral Care, Ministry or Conflict Resolution. The experience will allow for the opening of new learning opportunities and building of relationship with current students and faculty in order to re-enter the world of academia and strengthen pastoral skills. These 2 courses must be taken in Theological Studies. The current timetable will be forwarded upon request and availability. The Clergy Sabbatical Fellowship will be registered as a special student at Queens with access to libraries and other facilities on campus.

Stream Four:

Residency August 1st - October 31st

The Clergy Sabbatical Fellowship recipient will participate as staff in the Future Quest Summer Youth Experience which will offer an exciting and challenging experience for any Minister seeking to understand and minister among younger members of our churches and society. Future Quest, a 2-week community leadership program for 24 youth aged 14-17, is preceded by a week dedicated to training and preparation for the staff including the Clergy Sabbatical Fellowship recipient. Both will deepen pastoral abilities with youth and young adults.
