FQ Summer Staff

Ian Fanning is Future Quest Coordinator at Queen's School of Religion.  His responsibilities include recruitment of program participants, construction of the summer program and winter retreat, recruitment and hiring of staff, promotion of the program across Canada, providing opportunities for the evaluation of the program by participants and staff, and the preparation of an annual report for funders.

The summer of 2012 will be Ian's third summer as Coordinator.  In 2005, Ian completed his Diploma in Ministry from St. Francis Xavier University.  In 2007, he completed his undergraduate degree from Athabasca University.  In May 2010, Ian graduated with his Master of Theological Studies degree from Queen's School of Religion and in August 2011 he completed his Master of Arts in Religion and Modernity degree at Queen's.  Ian was accepted into the PhD in Cultural Studies program at Queen's University and has engaged the first year of the program.  His main academic interests are religions and masculinities, ritual and rites of passage theory, male initiation and indigenous masculinities.

Ian also holds a three-year diploma in Business Admin-Human Resources Management and a General Arts and Science diploma, both from St. Lawrence College.  He has worked in a large urban congretation as Ministry Coordinator and has five years of experience in employment counselling for youth.  Ian resides in a community north of Kingston where he and his wife are raising their three young children.
