| Angola and Namibia discuss visa system, (Angola Press Agency, 2005-04-28):-The Angolan Head of State, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, affirmed in Luanda today that the competent authorities of Angola and Namibia are pondering the possibility to suspend entry visas for the respective citizens, as a way of facilitating the circulation between the two States. Reminding that the two countries have a long common border, the President said Angola and Namibia are in a good path toward development, for they live an environment of peace and stability, which prompts the conditions for the implementation of policies meant to fight famine, illiteracy, backwardness and underdevelopment. However, the President said to be necessary the implementation of policies that constitute the essential support for the consolidation of democracy and guarantee of internal and regional security. On the other hand, he congratulated himself with the visit of the Namibian Statesman, indicating that having his colleague chosen Angola as one of the first countries to visit after his swear-in on March 21, "translate the friendship, the consideration and desire of deepening the bilateral relations in the most different areas". "We are sure that you will pursue the work started by your illustrious predecessor, and that you will be able to keep Namibia in the line of progress, democracy and development", he said. President Dos Santos underlined that the excellent relations existing between the two peoples are substantiated in a set of accords, including those related to land-marking and the demarcating of the marine border between the two States. "I beg you for us to proceed our efforts in the sense of implementing the referred agreements, seeking to enlarge our co-operation, as a way of contributing for the well-being and security of our peoples", concluded the President of the Republic of Angola. | |
