| Physicians from DR Congo fake, (Angola Press Agency, 2006-04-24):-Eighty percent of the physicians who trained and came from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as from the 90's and sought for professional certification from the Angolan Physicians Association are impostors, Angop learned Monday in Luanda. A mission of the Angolan Physicians Association that included the institution's chairman, João Bastos, and the president of the organ for the northern region, Josenando Teófilo, was in DRC from 12-15 April this year, to check the authenticity of the documents physicians who came from that neighbouring country produced here for job. According to Josenando Teófilo, of the 14 files submitted to the Association, 80 percent are fake. All the files went through the university chancellery, but due to the lack of fake diploma detection mechanisms, the owners were given certification. However, in order to clear out any doubts, the 14 files that looked suspect were checked. The Angolan delegation also asked for information on the legal faculties in that country. It was informed of existing 25, but the DRC Order only approves physicians from three of them. They are the Kinshasa, Lubumbashi and Kisangani. But Lubumbashi is considered as a worrying forging zone. Josenando said as well that the DR Congo authorities informed that in South Africa there are no similar cases as those of Angola, as appropriate measures have been taken to prevent fraud. Of the number of fake physicians, two are workers of public institutions. One is teaching in northern Uije province while the rest is serving private institutions, including churches and local and foreign NGOs. | |
