| Locals try to close down foreign businesses, (SABC News, 2006-08-01):-Dozens of South African small business operators in Diepsloot tried to force foreigners to close their businesses, said Pretoria police. Paul Ramaloko, an inspector, said about 80 to 100 local business owners protested against foreigners who own small businesses like spazas in Diepsloot, in an attempt "to persuade those people to close down their businesses". He said the South Africans complained that the foreigners charged lower prices. Police were sent to the area but no violence was reported. "There was no criminal case opened, so no arrests were made," said Ramaloko. | |
