Zimbabwean sisters robbed, raped in South Africa, (Herald, 2006-12-05):-Two Zimbabwean sisters aged 17 and 26 were raped and then robbed of R200 and a passport in northern South Africa by a man who had offered them a lift, police said. South African Police Service spokesperson for Vhembe District in Limpopo Province, Captain Thivhulawi Tshilate said the incident occurred on Monday night at around 10pm at Mutshongoville suburb in Musina. "The two victims were waiting for transport at Musina taxi rank when the suspect approached them. He offered them a lift to Johannesburg where they intended to go. However, along the way he diverted and headed towards Mutshongoville area," Capt. Tshilate said. The rapist parked his car at a house in Mutshongoville and then force-marched the two girls into one of the rooms where he allegedly tied their hands behind their backs before raping them. Capt Tshilate said the rapist then fled. He also took with him a passport belonging to one of the sisters. The sisters untied themselves and went to Musina Police Station where they filed a report. Capt Tshilate said police had since launched a manhunt for the suspect. "We have started investigating the whereabouts of the suspect. We are also appealing to members of public to assist us with information, which might lead to the arrest of the suspect, who is on the run. Anyone with information should contact any nearest police station," said the police spokesperson. Recently, another Zimbabwean woman was kidnapped by two knife-wielding rapists in South Africa’s Mutale area. They took turns to rape her the whole night. Two suspects were, however, arrested and have since appeared in court.
