DPM returns from SA hospital, (Swazi Observer, 2007-02-05):-Deputy Prime Minister Constance Simelane had to be taken to a South African hospital last week for medical attention. This was after Simelane’s condition, who has recently been indisposed, was not improving at the time. However, she has since returned from the SA Hospital and was said to be recuperating at home. The DPM’s referral was carried out on Wednesday afternoon according to well-placed sources. Principal Secretary at the DPM’s office Andreas Mathabela confirmed the developments in an interview yesterday. “Yes, I’m told the DPM underwent treatment in SA but she’s resting at home now according to information I gathered and you better contact her,” was all Mathabela could say. Contacted, the DPM said she was busy with elders and could not comment at the time. The DPM is the first woman to occupy the country’s second highest executive post and was previously the Minister of Education since November 2003 when the current cabinet came into office. She is one of 10 King’s appointees in the House of Assembly, has also worked in the foreign service and is an educationalist. Simelane assumed the position of deputy prime minister after the incumbent, Senator Albert Heshane Shabangu passed away following a short illness.
