Dissertation Boot Camp Is Over

By the end of the day on Friday, there were 40 tired but happy grad students in the Harry Potter reading room of Douglas Library. After 4 days of being in Boot Camp, these students have seen how much they can accomplish, if you take away simple things like internet access and mobile phones. Put them along side each other and no one wanted to break the rules.
The Dissertation Boot Camp is geared to have a quiet space where grad students can write - not research or do data analysis, but write. Bring in some one-on-one consultations and discussion groups, hosted by the Writing Centre and Learning Strategies and you have a recipe for getting results.
The School of Graduate Studies would like to thank all our students who attended on a job well done. We would also like to publically thank our colleagues in the Writing Centre (Deanna Mason, Donna Katinas and friends), Learning Strategies (Liz Parsons) and of course our Libraries who provided a magnificent venue to hold the camp.
