Graduate students in some programs at Queen’s can be supervised by faculty from Trent University.
Under a Queen’s-Trent Agreement, Queen’s allows some faculty from Trent to offer graduate courses and supervise graduate students enrolled at Queen’s.
Enrolled Queen’s graduate students who are supervised by a Trent faculty member can spend time at Trent to pursue their research.
Students may also have Teaching Assistantships at Trent while they participate.
Faculty at Trent who wish to participate in the agreement are nominated for membership in the School of Graduate Studies at Queen’s by the Dean of Graduate Studies at Trent University. Included in the nomination file is the faculty member’s full curriculum vitae and area of specialization.
The Dean of the School of Graduate Studies at Queen’s will forward the nomination to the relevant Queen’s department, faculty or school for consideration. The department, faculty or school will return the file to the School of Graduate Studies with a memo indicating whether an appointment is recommended. The Dean of of the School of Graduate Studies will forward the necessary documentation for the appointment to the Principal.
Appointments are made at the adjunct, assistant, associate or full professor category according to the rank at Trent of the person nominated. Each initial term is four years, renewable for an additional four years.
