Your guide to graduating on time and attending convocation

If you plan to graduate this year, you need to follow the guidelines to apply to graduate. Then, you need to make your arrangements to attend your convocation.


Fall 2012 Convocation

Last possible date to submit one electronic copy of the thesis, in PDF format revised as recommended by the Thesis Examining Committee and finally approved by the supervisor/committee to the School of Graduate Studies through QSpace to be added to Degree List.

Pattern II & III

Friday, September 28, 2012

(3:00 p.m.)

 
Last possible date to advise Graduate School Office of successful completion of non-research Master's (Project, Essay, Report, or Course Work) Degree to be added to Degree List.

Apply to Graduate

All eligible graduating students must formally apply to graduate on SOLUS, by September 28, 2012. If you do not plan to attend the ceremony, your diploma will be sent to your MAIL address on SOLUS approximately one month after the ceremony.

You may chcek your application in your Student Self Service Centre (SOLUS) by clicking on Academicand near the end of the list you will find the word Graduationand beneath this, two options - the first  you have already done by submitting your application and the second states "Maintain Graduation Details".

Detailed information about the Graduate School Convocation ceremonies can be found on the University Registrar's website.

You should check your fee statement on SOLUS regarding any outstanding fees, or to cancel any prearranged methods of tuition payment via the Registrar's website.


**IMPORTANT**  Please note, if you apply to graduate for Fall 2012 and do not complete degree requirements by the deadline date (September 28, 2012) your name will be removed from the degree list by the Thesis Coordinator.

If you are a previous graduate who was unable to attend your ceremony and if you wish to attend the Fall 2012 convocation, please complete the "Previous graduates requesting to attend a future convocation ceremony" (PDF*, 21 KB) request form.


Degree Completion

A student who completes a program mid-term is eligible for a partial refund of student activity and tuition fees assessed for that term. Students are required to return their student card to the Office of the University Registra - Records and Services for a refund of student activity fees. Health and Dental fees are not refundable if the completion date is after the opt-out period.

Apply to Graduate

All eligible graduating students must formally apply to graduate by April 30, 2012 .  As well, if you plan to attend your ceremony, you will need to confirm attendance (dates to be advised)   You will be able to apply to graduate and confirm attendance by selectingthe"Apply to Graduate " option in SOLUS. Tickets for your guests may be ordered when you confirm your attendance. The number of tickets each graduate may order in May is available at convocation schedule .

If you do not plan to attend the ceremony, your diploma will be sent to your MAIL address on SOLUS approximately one month after the ceremony. If you do not have access to the web, please call the Office of the University Registrar at (613) 533-2040 and they will mail you this information.

If you are a previous graduate who was unable to attend your ceremony, unfortunately, because of space constraints, the Office of the University Registrar is unable to grant any requests to attend the SPRING 2012 ceremony. However, if you wish to attend the FALL 2012 convocation, please go to the "Previous graduates requesting to attend a future convocation ceremony" (PDF*, 21 KB) request form.
