Friday June 4th, our graduate students from all programs got to receive their degrees on the same day.  It was an awesome sight.  All together 312 of our students graduated. Congratulations to you all.

 GGAwardEmilie2.jpgIt was also great that our two 2010 Governor General's Academic Gold Medal winners were able to be present to collect their awards. 

Congratulations go to Emilie Cameron, Ph.D., Geography and Gary Armstrong, Ph.D., Biology

Winners of the "Outstanding Thesis" for their discipline were:

  • Engineering and Applied Science Outstanding Thesis: Audrey Roy‐Poirier, M.A.Sc., Civil Engineering ‐ "Bioretention for Phosphorus Removal: Modelling Stormwater Quality Improvements"
  • Health Sciences Outstanding Thesis: Douglas Richardson, Ph.D., Pathology and Molecular Medicine ‐ "Subcellular localization and trafficking of the RET receptor tyrosine kinase: implications for Signalling and disease"

This convocation was also the last time that our Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, Dr Janice Deakin attended convocation at Queen's.  After 24 years at Queen's, Dean Deakin is moving on.  We all wish her the best and thank her for her tireless efforts for graduate studies and Queen's.
