Graduate Studies has their Academic Allstars Too!

Queen's Athletics & Recreation, hosted their second Academic Allstar Reception in the Athletics & Recreation Centre, this past week. 288 Queen's varsity student-athletes were recognized as Academic All-Stars, having earned at least an 80% (3.5 grade-point) average over the past academic year (2011-12).

“You have distinguished yourself in your pursuit of athletic and academic achievement and I commend you on this great accomplishment,” said Dr. Daniel Woolf, Queen's Principal and Vice-Chancellor in opening the ceremony. “As an Academic All-Star you have brought great pride to yourself, your team, and the University, and we recognize and appreciate how difficult it is to manage your busy sport schedules and achieve at this high academic level.”

31% of all Queen's varsity athletes were named Academic All-Stars. Queen's was one of only five schools in Canada with over 100 Academic All-Canadians in the past season.

Many of our graduate students are still eligible to participate in varsity athletics, usually their fifth and final year.  The following graduate students were part of the 2011-12 Academic Allstar list.  Congratulations to you all.
