This week 40 graduate students are working in the Harry Potter room of Douglas Library, writing! This is an opportunity for grad students to put aside the analysis and the research, and put pen to paper to write their thesis. No cell phones, no internet connection, just write. Sounds simple, but it’s not.
With the help of Liz Parsons of Learning Strategies and Deanna Mason & Donna Katinas of the Writing Centre (part of the newly merged Student Academic Success Services), our grad students have been able to get some expert help on how to strategise their way through the process and get assistance with their writing.
Another 40 are ready to do the same thing in June, so the Boot Camp is here to stay.
