Heat 3 of 3MT a very close affair

Heat 3 of the Three Minute Thesis competition was completed this afternoon in Walter Light Auditorium, with four more moving on to the finals.

Ten more graduate students presented their research from fields across the spectrum - rehabilitation science, chmical engineering, biochemistry, education, sociology, neuroscience, physiology and psychology. The top 3 and People's Choice winner all go through to the final on Thursday. Congratulations to you all.

Our top 3 and People's choice winners today were:

Heather Ridgway(Rehabilitation Science) - "Following stroke: how do strength and cardio fitness limit stair walking ability?"

Rana Pishva(Psychology) -  Evaluation of a parent centred group of anxious children

Xiaoqian Liu(Education) - "Grade, an indicator more than achievement".

People's Choice Winner- Alaa Al-Helaili (Physiology) - " CysLT2Rs a new avenue towards weight loss".

 

Heather accepts her prize from Vice Provost & Dean, School of Graduate Studies, Dr Brenda Brouwer.

Judges today were:

• Peter Gallant is Vice President, Business development and Regulatory Affairs at Veolia Water Technologies.
• Susan Anderson is Assistant Director at Queen’s University International Centre (QUIC).
• Dr Laurene Ratcliff is Professor at the Biology Department at Queen’s University.
