Queen’s International Graduate Students Improving Their Career Opportunities
By Tian Lu, SGPS International Student Affairs Commission
Queen’s Career Services, the SGS and the SGPS International Student Affairs Commission launched a resume & cover-letter basics workshop designed for international grad students on Jan 30th. The full capacity crowd indicated the popularity and high-demand of this workshop, making the event a huge success.
Debbie Mundell, the Career Advisor and the speaker in the workshop, delivered a fantastic and engaging presentation, where international grad students learnt how to mold their resume and cover-letter to a Canadian standard. The idea of running such a workshop for international grad students, originated from the SGPS International Student’s Affairs Commission. The Commission leaders are aiming to help international grad students to improve their career opportunities while studying at Queen’s via high-quality events and activities. Currently, the organizers of the workshop plan to run more sessions in June, 2014. The SGS, Career Services and SGPS will run other events to empower international grad students to improve their career opportunities.
