"Oh the directions they go!" Read about the career plans of our Physical and Health Education students as submitted by them at the time of their graduation.
Note: In 2010-11, fifteen BPHE graduates from Spring 2010 returned to Queen's as follows: four students entered an MSC in Kinesiology & Studies; three students entered an MSC in Rehabilitation Therapy - one in Occupational Therapy and two in Physiotherapy; seven students entered a BED program at the Faculty of Education; and, one student returned to do an additional BSCH program in Environmental Sciences with a general concentration in Life Sciences.
In September 2010, I will be attending the University of British Columbia for my Masters of Science in the School of Human Kinetics.
I will be working with Dr. Mark Beauchamp studying Sport and Excercise
Psychology. At this point I am unsure of what the next step will be,
but I hope to continue working with children and spending time outdoors.
A.W. - BSC GEN BIOL, BPHE SPF
I will be pursuing a Masters in Exercise Science at the University of Western Australia starting in February 2011 with a professor I had while on exchange in Winter 2009. I will focus on exercise physiology and the impact of exercise on Type I Diabetes.
T.J. - BSC GEN LISC, BPHE SSP
This fall I will be attending the University of Victoria for graduate school to obtain my MSc. Enrolled in the School of Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education
(EPHE), I plan to work in Vancouver Island on a community-based
physical activity and health promotion thesis project. My post-graduate
plans are uncertain: I might pursue Dentistry or obtain my PhD to become
a professor; I may also start working after completion of my MSc.
T.L. - BSC GEN LISC, BPHE SPF
This Fall I will be attending Queen's University Teachers College.
I will be working towards getting a job teaching at the high school
level. I hope to become a coach for the high school basketball and
volleyball teams, and perhaps in the future a professional coach for a
University or College team.
K.M.P. - BSC GEN BIOL, BPHE SSP
In the fall of 2010, I plan to begin an Athletic Therapy program at either York University or Sheridan College, on my way to becoming a full time Athletic Therapist.
J.W. - BSC GEN LISC, BPHE SPF
After Exams in April I left for a month
traveling around the east coast of Austrlia. I have been accepted to the
Masters of Physiotherapy program at both McMaster and Western and am currently trying to decide where I will spend the next two years studying.
S.V.P. - BSCH MAJ BIOL, BPHE SPF
In September 2010 I will be continuing my education with a four-year program at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College
in Toronto. Upon graduation I will receive a Doctorate of
Chiropractics and hopefully start my own practice within the Greater
Toronto Area.
T.J.W.E. - BSC GEN BIOL, BPHE SSP
I will be returning next year to Queen's University for a Masters of Science in the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies. I will be studying Exercise Physiology with Dr. Kyra Pyke.
T.J.K. - BSC GEN BIOL, BPHE SSP
I will be attending the Physical Therapy program here at Queen's come September. I hope to one day own my own clinic in conjuction with a fitness facility.
D.N.L.H - BSC GEN LISC, BPHE SPF
In September 2010, I will be remaining at Queen's and pursuing an M.Sc. with Dr. Amy Latimer
regarding health and physical activity promotion. Upon completion of
my M.Sc. I am hoping to be successful in my pursuit of Medical School in
order to eventually establish a career in medicine. I am looking
forward to the future and I am excited for what is to come!
