Resources

Have you been tasked with the job of managing social media for your faculty or department? The list of resources we have provided are intended to help you begin and maintain a social media presence. We have focused our efforts on the four platforms officially supported by Queen's: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr.

Before you create a social media presence for your faculty or department, ensure that your social media efforts are part of your overall communications strategy. This means that before you decide to Tweet you should know what you're trying to accomplish, and why. Also, who is your audience and what do you want them to do? Is social media the best way to achieve your goal? For instance, if you simply want to promote an event or send out news about your department, a website or an eNewsletter might be a better choice for you.

Use the Marketing and Communications "Social Media Brief" to facilitate the development of a strategy.
