  • Classical social theory;
  • Praxis, labour, and the ontology of Being;
  • Modernity in the first quarter of the twentieth century

With the publication of Steroids: A New Look at Performance-Enhancing Drugs (Praeger, 2011), a work that addresses themes left unexplored in Fastest, Highest, Stongest: A Critique of High-Performance Sport (Routledge, 2006, co-authored with Ian Ritchie), Rob is now working on Sociology in the Contemporary World: An Integrated Introduction, which will complement The Promise of Sociology: The Classical Tradition and Contemporary Sociological Thinking (University of Toronto Press, 2010).

As a member of the advisory board for The Krader Project at McMaster University, Rob is also involved in research that builds on a number of Lawrence Krader’s unpublished essays and his posthumously published, Noetics: The Science of Thinking and Knowing.
