Departmental Awards for Italian

Awards, Scholarships and Prizes are not normally awarded to students who do not achieve first-class standing (see Arts & Science Calendar).

Departmental Medal(s)

Based on the cumulative average, this medal is given to the candidate graduating with a first-class honours degree who has achieved the highest standing in a concentration offered by that Department. An additional medal may be awarded to up to five students annually who are graduating with first-class honours in programs with special field concentrations or combined medial concentrations. Nominations for these additional medals are to be made to the awards Committee who will make recommendations to the Committee of Departments (see Arts and Science Calendar).

The Prince of Wales Medal

Awarded to 2 students graduating with honours BA/Bsc who are judged to have the best academic records at Queen's.
The Grand Lodge of the Order of Sons of Italy of Ontario Scholarship in Italian ($500)
Outstanding achievement in one or more Italian courses at the 200 or 300 level.

Alvera Salute Lunduist Memorial Scholarships in Italian

Established by the late Alvera Salute Lundquist and awarded as follows:
1) to the student who has achieved the highest standing in ITALIAN 230 (providing it is first-class)
2) to the student who has achieved the highest standing in ITALIAN 205* (providing it is first-class) and is proceeding to further studies in Italian at Queen's University in the following session.
3) to the student who has achieved the highest standing in ITALIAN 301* (providing it is first-class)

The Ambassador of Switzerland's Book Prize in Italian

Awarded to a student who has shown great interest in the program and been an inspiration to other students in the Department.

Italian Cultural Institute's Book Prize

Awarded to a student who has shown great interest in the program and been an inspiration to other students in the Department.

Italian Government Award in Italian

Funded annually by the Italian Ministry of Education.  Awarded on the recommendation of the Department to the student who has the highest standing after completing first and second-year courses in Italian and who is continuing with Italian studies at Queen's University.
