QSPS Alumna receives Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award

Queen’s School of Policy Studies is proud to announce that Michelle Amri (Master of Public Administration 2014) is a recipient of the 2015 Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award. His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada presented the award to Ms. Amri at a special ceremony at the Citadelle of Quebec. 

Ms. Amri was recognized for her volunteer work with Butt Out!, an anti-tobacco industry advocacy club at Western University, (London, Ontario). Highly dedicated to this cause, she educated young people about the hazards of smoking, supported stronger non-smoking policies on campus, and facilitated the dialogue between the university community and the city of London through educational presentations at local schools.

Created in 1995, the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award recognizes “living Canadians and permanent residents who have made a significant, sustained, unpaid contribution to their community, in Canada or abroad”.
