Professor Alberto Alesina is the Nathaniel Ropes Professor of Political Economy at Harvard University. He is a leader in the field of Political Economics and has published extensively in academic journals. He is also the author of several books including, "The Future of Europe: Reform or Decline", published by the MIT Press, and "Fighting Poverty in the US and Europe: A World of Difference", published by Oxford University Press. Professor Alesina's research spans a wide range of topics including political business cycles, the political economy of fiscal and redistributive policies, stabilization policies, currency unions, European integration, and differences in the political and economic systems of the US and Europe.
