An interchange agreement with the Department of Public Administration at the University of Ghana provides for Queen's MIR/PMIR students to spend approximately six weeks in Ghana in the late spring or early summer, during which they will each complete a pre-assigned four-week volunteer placement with a local non-governmental agency or a government department.

On arrival in Ghana, students will participate in a two-three day orientation program, followed by eight days of study tours in the region. This is followed by their four-week volunteer work placement and a final debriefing session with university officials.

Prior to visiting Ghana, Queen's students will participate in an elective course on "Public Policy Issues in Africa," in which a faculty member from the University of Ghana is normally involved.
