Nancy Austin is the Amethyst Fellow, on leave from the Ontario Public Service. Nancy was previously the Executive Director and CEO at the Ontario Human Rights Commission. In this role, Nancy has led the organization in the development of many significant human rights policy decisions and litigation of high profile cases which have shaped the current state of human rights in Ontario. Her knowledge extends to many facets of government process, policy development, change management, decision-making and human rights.

After working in private practice, Nancy began her career with the OPS in 1989. Her past positions include: Assistant Deputy Attorney General, Legal Services Division (LSD); Director, Management and Information Coordination Project, LSD; Project Director, Legal Aid Reform; and Director of Legal Services, Ministry of Labour. Nancy has a Master's degree in Law from York University, LL.B from University of Western Ontario, Executive-MBA from Queen’s University, B.A. from Trent University, and has delivered and participated in many educational programs.
