Getting Published with SPS
Publishing with School of Policy Studies Press (SPS) involves several stages including:
- Submitting a proposal
- Peer review
- Copy Editing and Production
- Marketing and distribution
Submitting a Proposal
We are always pleased to consider new book proposals and manuscripts. Preliminary enquiries are welcome. A full proposal normally includes items such as:
- A CV of the editor(s) or author(s)
- Anticipated length of manuscript
- Working title of book
- A short description of the theme and contents
- A title and/or brief description of each chapter;
- A suggested timeline for completion of the manuscript;
- An indication of the place of the manuscript in the literature, including the expected readership and the possibility for use as a textbook or course reader.
Once the proposal has been accepted, the manuscript will undergo the peer review process.
Peer Review
The series editor or one of the sub series editors manage the peer review process for each manuscript.
Copy Editing and Production
The production schedule consists of four phases:
- Submission of manuscript for peer review to offer of contract
- Submission of final manuscript to completion of copyediting
- Completion of copyediting to receipt of first page proofs
- Receipt of first proofs to delivery of finished book
