Rhodes Scholarship Application Process

Applications for the Rhodes Scholarship 2016 are due by midnight on Friday, 16 October, 2015, PST. All applicants must be endorsed by their post-secondary institution.

Applicants must apply for endorsement to Queen's before they can submit their application to Rhodes.

Internal Rhodes applications to Queen's University are due by 11:59 PM on Sunday, 13 September, 2015.  Read the Queen's Candidates for 2016 Rhodes Scholarship Application Requirements for information about the internal Rhodes application to Queen's.

The materials that candidates must submit to the internal Rhodes competition at Queen's University are the same as those required for the Canadian Rhodes Scholarship.  Read the 2016 Rhodes Memorandum for Canada for details about the national Rhodes scholarship application.

Applicants are encouraged to start their application over the summer. If you are considering applying for a 2016 Rhodes Scholarship through Queen's, you must contact Elizabeth (Liz) Parsons in Student Academic Success Services at parsonse@queensu.ca to express interest in applying to the Rhodes scholarship, to be connected wo Queen's resources to support your application, and for more information.

Application Process and Institutional Endorsement

All Queen's students wishing to apply for the Rhodes Scholarship must receive an institutional endorsement from the Principal. Institutional endorsements are decided through an internal screening process which takes place each year in September.

Students who meet the Rhodes criteria and are interested in applying must contact Elizabeth (Liz) Parsons at parsonse@queensu.ca  to express their interest.

All applications to be considered by Queen's internal selection committee must be submitted by 11:59 PM on Sunday, 13 September, 2015. Applicants are strongly encouraged to start on your application over the summer.

The selection committee meets September 2015 to review applications. All successful students will be notified immediately. If your application has been successful, you will receive an authorization code from the university that allows you to submit your application to Rhodes. The university's endorsement letter will be sent directly by Queen's to the provincial Rhodes secretary.

It is the applicant's responsibility to submit the online application to Rhodes and to arrange for all required documents to be sent or submitted.
