Campus Security promotes a safe and welcoming environment that recognizes the diverse nature of the Queen's community, operating a variety of services that range from emergency response to safety education.
Blue lights and emergency phones
- These phones connect to Campus Security's Emergency Report Centre.
- Use them if you feel anxious or unsafe, if you have witnessed an accident or a crime, or if you are in need of an escort.
- The campus map shows blue light locations.
- These are important safety devices. Do not tamper with or misuse these phones.
Emergency report centre
- The Campus Security Emergency Report Centre (ERC) responds to calls made through the Emergency Phones on campus or by direct dial to 613-533-6111 (or 36111 from campus phones).
- The ERC is staffed 24/7.
- ERC staff monitor Queen's emergency communications systems and alarms (fire, intrusion and mechanical) and dispatch Campus Security staff, other Queen's emergency services (including Queen's First Aid), and municipal emergency services (e.g., police, fire and rescue, and ambulance).

There are 4 ways to keep yourself up-to-date on security incidents:

- sign up for the ALERT-L listserve
- follow Campus Security on Twitter or
- subscribe to the Campus Security RSS feed.
Emergency notification systems (ens)
The Emergency Notification Systems (ENS) are used in real-time to broadcast clear information before, during, and after emergency situations. A siren signal will sound, followed by safety instructions alerting the campus to take shelter and check one of the Emergency Notification platforms (Queen's website, University Status Line, Queen's email, etc.) for information and instructions.
Lone worker and campus escort programs
Campus Security can check on you when you are working on campus outside business hours. When the AMS Walkhome service is off-duty, Campus Security will provide a safe escort (day or night) between points on campus. Call 613-533-6080.
Education: rape aggression defense program
The Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) program provides women with information about self-defense, personal safety, awareness, and risk reduction and avoidance. Three four-hour sessions include basic self-defense techniques, lectures, and discussions, suitable for women of all ages and abilities. Email rad@queensu.ca for more information.
