Answers:

1. I am an upper-year student at Queen's, how do I apply for scholarships in my upper years?

Upper-year Scholarships are available to students who have completed a year of studies and are continuing their undergraduate degree.   Most upper-year scholarships are granted automatically by your faculty.   Some scholarships require a separate application, some are applicable to students across all faculties and schools and others are specific to a particular faculty or school.  For more information on upper year scholarships please visit the Upper Year Awards section.

2. My award offer says that I must have a full course load to receive my award. What does full course load mean?

The terms of your award do state that you must be registered as a full-time student carrying a full course load in an undergraduate degree program. A full course load is successfully completing a minimum of 80% of the full course load required for the faculty you are registered in.

3. I am in my final year of studies and do not require the equivalent of 4.0 credits (80% of a full course load) to meet my degree requirements. Can I take a reduced course load and retain the scholarship?

Yes. However, you must be registered in at least the equivalent of 3.0 credits (60% of a full course load).  You must inform the Student Awards in writing otherwise the scholarship will automatically be removed from your student account.

4.  How do I know if I have granted an award or a scholarship?

You may see all of your Queen’s administered awards and scholarships on SOLUS (Student Center)! To view your awards, simply log into SOLUS (using your Queen’s NetID and password) and click on the “View Financial Aid” hyperlink, available in the “Finances” section.
