Admission Bursaries and Awards - Need Based

Queen's believes that all students who are offered admission should have the opportunity to attend and remain at Queen's, regardless of their personal financial circumstances. We are committed to equality of opportunity and therefore we assist students entering the first year of any first-entry undergraduate program of study whose families are lacking sufficient financial resources.

Many admission bursaries are named in honour of the generous contributions of Queen's benefactors. For a complete list of the named admission bursaries please visit the Awards List section. Please note: By submitting an Admission Bursary Application students are automatically considered for all named admission awards and bursaries. (Exceptions:  The Schulich Leader Scholarship and The Science 1948 1/2 Mature Student Entrance Bursary both require a separate application process).

What is an admission bursary?

An admission bursary is based on an assessment of your financial need. It is an amount of money you receive to assist you in financing your education that you do not have to pay back. Students applying for an admission bursary will also be considering government student financial assistance.

The Admission Bursary Application is available on your SOLUS Student Center, under the FINANCES section.  Click on the "Queen's Admission Bursary Application' link.  You will be linked to the application.

The deadline to apply is February 15, 2016.

Students are encouraged to submit their Admission Bursary Application at the same time they are applying for admission to Queen's.

To be eligible for most admission bursaries you must be:

  • a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • demonstrate financial need based on, but not restricted to, the following factors:
    • student and family income
    • number of dependants in the family
    • applicant's assets (including savings, anticipated resources through government student financial assistance)
