Because of the high volume of students seen at Queen’s Student Health Service, we are unable to contact everyone with every test result. When test results arrive they are reviewed by the doctor who ordered the test; our nursing staff then contact patients if advised to do so by the ordering doctor. A plan for follow-up should have been discussed with you at your appointment as your test results are only one part of the management of your health concerns. Please make sure that you follow-up as directed by the clinic physician you have seen.
Tests take varying amounts of time to be reported, anywhere from two days to several weeks. Students are welcome to make an appointment to follow-up on the results of their diagnostic tests but students should not call the clinic for test results as they will not be given over the phone . There are important medico-legal reasons for not giving test results to those who call in asking for them. We appreciate your understanding of this policy.
