Campus Outreach

Programming with Residence Life

Health Promotion supports the following programs in partnership with Queen’s Residence Life. The programs are offered at no cost to help students de-stress, make new friends, and learn new skills.  Unless otherwise stated, all classes are drop-in so no registration is required.

All skill levels welcome!

Res Yoga

Free residence classes in Residence are offered in collaboration with Athletics and Recreation and Residence Life. The classes are offered on a weekly basis and yoga mats are supplied.

The classes are held on both Main and West Campus. Please check back in September 2017 for a list of dates and locations.

Knit Happens

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to knit, this is the program for you!

Join us in Leggett’s Fireplace Lounge for some free hot chocolate, knitting supplies, and an hour of informal instruction on how to knit.  Even if you have never knitted before, you are welcome to join! The instructor will help show you the basics. You can also just stop by for some company, hot beverages, and a cozy night beside Leggett’s fireplace.

Please check back in September 2017 for the fall schedule.

Pet Therapy

Twice a term trained therapy dogs from St. John’s ambulance come to Residence. This is a great way to take a break from studying and have some fun petting a dog! Students are also given the opportunity to help complete crafts and projects that are donated to local charities.

Please check back in September 2017 a list of dates and locations.

Exam Care Packages

Exam care packages are a joint effort between the Peer Health Educators and Peer Learning Assistants from Student Academic Success Services (SASS).

The packages are handed out around midterms and exams to help students through a typically stressful time. They contain yummy treats, helpful study supplies, information on resources on campus, and encouraging messages from fellow students!

Look out for them around campus during midterms and exams!
