4th Annual Kingston Unplugged Earth Hour Celebration
March 26, 2011
"Come be part of an incredible night; help promote sustainable living through education and entertainment!"
The Event
The Kingston Unplugged Concert invites residents to enjoy performances by local artists, appearances by engaging speakers, sustainability displays, vendors and more; all at no cost and powered by solar and wind charged batteries.
The History
In 2007, 2.2 million homes and businesses turned their lights off for one hour in Sydney, Australia. By 2010, the event became a global sustainability movement, involving 1.3 billion people in 128 cities. Kingston Unplugged, our community's official Earth Hour event, has grown from a small gathering of 60 in 2008 into a full-on educational exhibition and concert with attendance in the thousands.
