Queen's University

Get Caught "Green-Handed" on Campus

A new initiative aims to promote the university's participation in Recyclemania and raise awareness about campus waste diversion.

"The 'Caught Green Handed' campaign is a great way to recognize individuals on campus who are contributing to making Queen's a greener, more sustainable place to study, work, live and play," says Llynwen Osborne, Waste Coordinator.

Student volunteers on the Recyclemania planning committee will recognize individuals on campus with 'Caught Green Handed' stickers when they see someone contributing to sustainability on campus. These individuals will be invited to submit their names for a prize draw to be held mid-March.

Types of sustainable acts that will be recognized include:

• Recycling
• Using a refillable water bottle or reusable coffee mug
• Depositing a book in the Better World Books drop-off box in the JDUC
• Energy conservation
• Participating in their office organics program

The campaign runs until March 9.

Queen's is currently participating in Recyclemania, an international competition aimed at promoting waste reduction activities at university campuses.
