Susan Marlin is the Associate Vice-Principal (Research), Queen’s University and in this role she focuses on enhancing the research enterprise while ensuring integrity and compliance in research activities. She supports the development of research initiatives at Queen’s by pursuing funding and partnership opportunities and through ensuring high-quality research services. Prior to serving in this role she was the Director of Research Services at Queen’s.
Susan worked with the National Cancer Institute of Canada Clinical Trials Group at Queen’s University from 1994-2003 coordinating cancer clinical trials and leading the development and implementation of the Ethics and Regulatory Office of the Group. She received a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from Dalhousie University, an MSc in Community Health and Epidemiology from Queen’s University, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education at the University of Calgary in Leadership in Higher Education. She has been significantly involved in research ethics issues over the years and has served on several research ethics committees. She has served as President of the Canadian Association of Research Ethics Boards, a member of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Research Integrity Committee, the Ontario Cancer Research Ethics Board and is currently a member of the Tri-Agency Panel on Responsible Conduct of Research.
