I am delighted that we are drawing on the expertise and talent within the Queen's community to advance our research program and am pleased to announce the following:
Dr. Cynthia Fekken has been appointed Associate Vice-Principal (Research) for a five-year term effective April 1, 2013. Dr. Fekken will be responsible for implementation of the SRP, developing strategic faculty relationships, integrating strategy and operations within the VPR portfolio as well as acting as the designate of the Vice-Principal (Research).
Dr. Yolande Chan has been appointed Associate Vice-Principal (Research) for a three-year term effective July 1, 2013. Dr. Chan's responsibilities as the second AVPR are to advance the Social Science and Humanities research priorities and themes emerging from the Strategic Research Plan; to provide leadership on Queen's Research Centres and Institutes; and to design the Institute for Advanced Research/Studies as described in the SRP.
Ms. Karina McInnis has been named Executive Director, University Research Services. Ms. McInnis began her progressive career serving the research enterprise at Queen's in July 2000 as a program coordinator with the eQUIP Task Force. In 2006, she moved to the Office of Research Services as a major projects advisor. Since that time, she has assumed roles with increasing strategic, management and leadership responsibilities, and is presently the Interim Director.
Please join me in welcoming these three talented colleagues to their new roles.
