Queen’s University becomes a member of CASRAI

The Consortia Advancing Standards in Research Administration Information (CASRAI) is pleased to announce Queen’s University’s recent membership.  The following is posted on their website:

In addition to its strong reputation for educational quality, Queen’s University is a research-intensive institution that prides itself on excellence in a wide spectrum of disciplines – from engineering and health, to natural sciences, social sciences and the humanities.  This excellence is supported through diverse international collaborations, partnerships with industry, a robust graduate program, creativity and innovation, as well as knowledge translation and commercialization.

Excellence must also be supported through funding opportunities from a variety of sources with varying pre- and post-award requirements leading to substantial administrative loads, procedural inefficiencies, and the occasion for  errors.  These administrative loads become an impediment (and demotivator) to scholarly productivity.

“As the Vice-Principal (Research), my mission is to help people achieve excellence in research and scholarship.  As part of reaching this goal, I strive to help lift the administrative load off our researchers, so they can invest their energy in their particular area of expertise.  We look forward to working with CASRAI to help streamline the required procedures, improving the use of time and resources.”
