Short handouts on specific aspects of writing are available at the Writing Centre and online. Topics include writing critical book reviews, avoiding plot summary in a literature essay, using commas and dashes, and choosing between passive and active voice. Our in-house lending library contains a wide range of manuals and guidebooks concerning all aspects of academic writing.
Our comprehensive writing guide, A Writer's Handbook: Developing Writing Skills for Canadian University Students, is available at the Campus Bookstore for $9 (plus HST).
Anyone with an urgent question about grammar, style, format, or usage can email us at Syntax or call the Writer's Line at 613-533-6315. A writing consultant will respond to your query as soon as possible.
