Queen's is one of Canada's leading universities with an international reputation for scholarship, social purpose, and spirit.
All web pages accessible through Queen's computer networks must comply with University policies and regulations, and with federal and provincial law, including but not limited to the Queen's University Computer User Code of Ethics, the Code of Conduct and related policies.
Intellectual and graphical material is subject to the provisions of Canadian copyright laws. "Copyright means the sole right to produce or reproduce a work or any substantial part thereof in any material form whatever ..." (Copyright Act, 1985, C-42 as amended, P. 3(1). (The Copyright Act includes some special provisions for research and educational use of copyrighted material.) If a substantial part of a copyrighted document or image is to be reproduced on a web site, prior permission from the copyright owner should be obtained in writing. Normally, when links are made to existing web sites, the owner/creator of the web site should be notified of the link, and acknowledged.
Individual Queen's web sites are created and managed independently, with each site manager being responsible for the site's privacy policy and disclaimer. Therefore, you should examine each site's privacy policy and disclaimer to make a decision about whether or not to use it.
However, The Office of the Access and Privacy Coordinator at Queen's does provide information about its own web privacy policy and is working to develop a standard web privacy policy for the entire University that reflects the diverse needs of our distributed system.
