3. Substitutions

A. Those students who spend their third-year on exchange at a French-speaking university or who are fluent in French are not required to take FREN 320 Communication et culture V/3.0. An alternate FREN course may be substituted with the permission of the Undergraduate Chair.

4. Notes

A. Students should note that FREN 106 Communication et culture I (formerly FREN P16); FREN 107 Communication et culture II (formerly FREN P17); FREN 111 Révision de la grammaire I (formerly FREN P11); FREN 112 Révision de la grammaire II (formerly FREN P12); FREN 118 Communication et Culture III; FREN 225 French in the Professional Workplace; FREN 236 French For Healthcare Professionals; and FREN 237 French For Government Professionals may not be used towards the requirements of this Plan. Students may not register for, or receive credit for, courses that are at a level lower than their current level of ability. This is particularly true of the 100-level course sequence that contains One-Way Exclusions. The following courses should be taken in this sequence: FREN 106 Communication et culture I (formerly FREN P16); FREN 107 Communication et culture II (formerly FREN P17); FREN 111 Révision de la grammaire I (formerly FREN P11); FREN 112 Révision de la grammaire II (formerly FREN P12) and FREN 118 Communication et Culture III.

B. A maximum of 6.0 units from courses offered by other Faculties and Schools may be counted toward the program and/or Plan Requirements. This includes courses in BMED, COMM, GLPH, LAW, NURS and courses in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science.
