The minimum requirements, beyond the Master's Degree, are a minimum of four term length graduate level courses (or equivalent), passing of comprehensive examinations,  and  a satisfactory thesis, successfully defended.

For students who received a Master’s from this department and in the same area of study, the minimum course requirements shall be decided in consultation with the PhD Advisory Committee and approved by the Department Head or Graduate Coordinator.

Seminars

As part of the M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. programs, full-time students are required to take the appropriate seminar course, either MECH 897 or MECH 997.
