This course focuses on the financial issues that managers and investors face in an international setting and develops a framework for evaluating the associated opportunities, costs, and risks. The course employs cases and news articles from the financial media extensively to provide students with a detailed and analytical look at the financial decisions undertaken by multinational firms and investors. Topics covered include: determination of exchange rates; foreign exchange market; relations among exchange rates, inflation rates & interest rates; currency futures, options & swaps; international investing; foreign exchange exposure; hedging currency risk; and cross-border valuation.
