ELEC 436 Electric Machines and Control
Review of basic electric machines. Salient pole synchronous machines. Transient and dynamic behaviour of electric machines. Characteristics and applications of special motors such as servo motors, stepper motors, PMmotors, brushless dc motors, switched reluctance motors and linear motors. Solid state speed and torque control of motors.

Electrical and Computer Engineering
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is housed in Walter Light Hall which provides over 5,400 square meters of modern research, teaching and classroom facilities. The building is linked to Goodwin Hall which houses the School of Computing. Additional space for undergraduate laboratories and research is located in Beamish-Munro Hall.
