POLS 456 Theories of Identity Politics
An investigation into different theoretical perspectives on the issue of 'identity' and the import of these perspectives for the 'politics of identity'. Theories of gender, race, class, nation, and sexual orientation, from a variety of perspectives, including Marxist, feminist, postmodern, and psychoanalytic theory.

Applicants are accepted under the general regulations of the School of Graduate Studies. Applicants to the M.A. program must have a 4-year undergraduate degree in political science or equivalent with a minimum B+ average; applicants to the Ph.D. must have an M.A. in political science or equivalent with an A- average.
