Transformational giving in support of Queen’s Priorities

Advancement will build on the gains of the Initiative Campaign. Timely and meaningful stewardship for top benefactors will be a priority, ensuring that contributors understand the impact of their gifts and are inspired to invest more in Queen’s. The Principal and other leaders, including Deans and Department Heads, play an integral role in effective stewardship; they are uniquely positioned to illustrate the impact of philanthropy on the institution as a whole, as well as its faculties and schools.
Advancement will continue to present the university’s priorities to potential benefactors, adopting a flexible approach to philanthropy that aligns their needs with those of the university. Our emphasis on principal and major gift fundraising will be formalized; we will work to inspire a growing number of gifts of $10 million and more. We will practice an intergenerational approach to the university’s wealthiest families, to engage them more effectively in philanthropy for Queen’s.
We will improve collaboration between central development and faculties/schools and take advantage of the unique perspectives of each group. Donors expect coordination and an integrated approach that reflects clarity in terms of institutional priorities.
The comprehensive campaign framework will be replaced by a new structure, potentially include “mini-campaigns”: special projects with clearly identified prospective supporters.
