I spent some time thinking about what I wanted to convey in this issue of ALTogether Now, and when I reflected on our work since May 1, I realized my message is quite simple:

THANK YOU!

Spring is a busy time in Advancement and a great deal has happened in AR&AG. We are two months into the fiscal year, and we are moving ahead with new priorities and in new directions.

All of this transpired while many people adjusted to new teams and learned different roles and other areas were temporarily understaffed.  

It’s fitting that the theme of this newsletter is “together." AR&AG dove into  2019-20 with the support, expertise, and resources of the entire Advancement team at its disposal. This speaks volumes about the Office of Advancement and our willingness to help and support our colleagues.  

There are several exciting initiatives taking place over the summer. To highlight a few:

  • The Annual Giving team is collaborating with Good Works. More on that below. 
  • Melanie and the new Admin Group (new name to be determined) are creating a structure and framework for how they will support their colleagues. 
  • Our new Advancement Regional Strategy team is taking a deep dive into data. 
  • The Alumni and Volunteer Engagement Team has Homecoming registration and planning in full swing. Please reach out to your AR&AG colleagues about any of these or other initiatives.

I hope you all enjoy some vacation time this summer and have an opportunity to relax, rest, and recharge!


Alumni Engagement Metrics Project

The new Alumni Engagement Working Group is developing an alumni engagement score and Tableau dashboards to highlight our metrics.

The group has adopted the four pillars of the CASE Alumni Engagement Metrics Task Force, which are currently used at peer institutions.

The CASE Four Engagement Pillars:

  1. Volunteer - Formally defined and rewarding volunteer roles that are endorsed and valued by the institution and support its mission and strategic goals.
  2. Experiential - Meaningful experiences that inspire alumni, are valued by the institution, promote its mission, celebrate its achievements, and strengthen its reputation.
  3. Philanthropic - Diverse opportunities for alumni to make philanthropic investments that are meaningful to the donor and support the institution’s mission and strategic goals.
  4. Communication - Interactive, meaningful, and informative communication with alumni that supports the institution’s mission, strategic goals, and reputation.

Next, the group is meeting with faculties, areas, and Advancement units to discuss key data points to include in our engagement pillars.

Summerhill Shuffle

We’ve moved. Just a reminder that the west side of Summerhill is under construction. Here’s where you can find us:

  • Alumni Relations - Mel, Carey, Erin, Jess, Kathryn, Talia, Pavel, Tania, Ben, Amy, and Becca are located in Old Meds 303
  • Liz is in east Summerhill room 116
  • Chelsea can be found in Old Meds 107
  • Gabriela is in Old Meds 109
  • Events is in east Summerhill basement, rooms 006, 009, and 010
  • Finance is in east Summerhill room 116

We Do Good Work

Annual Giving has hired Good Works as a one-year pilot for the direct response program. Good Works will be working directly with Alumni Relations & Annual Giving, Marketing and Communications, and Information Technology Management to ensure successful execution of each appeal. There will be four annual appeals (waves) in support of the Queen’s Fund and the second wave will consist of the faculty/unit appeal with a focus on Student Financial Aid.
