Advance Preview

Steve Hornsby

I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the beautiful weather. The summer period has been a busy one in Advancement Services as we continue to support the development of a number of important strategic initiatives for the upcoming year and beyond. I thought I would take this opportunity to give you an advance preview of the great projects that are in progress or recently completed. Thanks again to our Advancement partners for their assistance and guidance.

Research is currently envisioning a Tableau-based Pipeline Builder Report to provide fundraisers with expanded prospect identification, trip planning, and priority-setting abilities. The team will incorporate new filters to access a “Likelihood to Take a Visit” score and LinkedIn Interest Codes.

In the upcoming weeks, ITM will onboard users of the current Contact Centre Application to the newly created Entity Update Form which you can access through the Hub.This form will allow you to submit biographic updates for alumni, donors, and volunteers which will be stored in Advance.

Research is participating in a pilot project with Charity Canada to screen  approximately 100,000 Canadian alumni for a potential new source of wealth and asset screening information. Results should be in by the end of August.

Donor Relations and ITM finalized a new application to support the generation of award recipient notification letters and student thank-you testimonials.

Gift Services and Marketing and Communications soft-launched a new U.K.-based online giving mechanism for U.K. taxpayers through the Chapel & York Foundation. More information to follow on how you can share this exciting new opportunity with your U.K. donors.

Informed by the Records Retention project, Gift Services will be initiating a university-wide gift-in-kind audit ensuring not only an accurate records manifest, but also an opportunity to provide a value-added service to our colleagues on the current location and use of each gift-in-kind.

Your colleagues across Advancement have been testing Advance 2016 as we prepare to upgrade the system on Sept. 29, 2019. This new version will bring enhancements to the Entity Notes screen, clipboard functionality, and the way we access information. We will have more information about the upgrade to share with you in early September.

Upcoming Support Sessions

Thank you to those who responded to the survey in my July 2 newsletter. This was helpful as we look to expand on the inaugural Support Sessions started by Gift Services to include other functional areas of Advancement Services. Based on some of the feedback, we will likely focus additional sessions on: demystifying data governance, a Prospect Research overview, Service Desk Tips, Tricks, and Q&A, and of course we will continue with new topics related to Gift Services. Please stay tuned for more on this in the early fall.

Goodbye, Alynn!

I would like to extend a final thank you and best wishes to Alynn Boyle for her tremendous contributions to Advancement and Queen’s over the last three years. Thank you, Alynn, and best wishes for continued success at St. Lawrence College.
