Calgary Branch - Let's Talk Trump

Donald Trump
Thursday, September 28, 2017 - 5:30pm to 9:00pm

Donald J. Trump has reached the first hundred days of his presidency and a whirlwind of controversy has surrounded it. What impact will a Trump presidency continue to have on domestic politics in the United States, where we have seen the emergence of deep partisan, class and racial divisions? And what effects will a Trump presidency have on the global system, which for over seventy years has depended on administrations in Washington that are committed to a liberal trading order and a global security order in which the United States plays a primary role?

This event with Dr. Kim Nossal, Professor of Political Studies at Queen's University, will explore these important questions. Dr. Nossal completed his PhD at the University of Toronto and taught international relations and Canadian foreign policy at McMaster University before coming to Queen's. Dr. Nossal also served as chair of the academic selection committee of the Security and Defence Forum of the Department of Nation Defence from 2006-2012. Nossal's interests in Canadian-American relations, international stabilization missions and Canadian foreign and defence policy offer an unique insight into the issues surrounding Trump's presidency.
